One of my favorite restaurants in NYC, we were back for the third time and it was just as good.

Drunken Crab

Raw crab is marinated in a mixture of wine, fish sauce, and vinegar for a delicate flavor mixture of sweet, sour, and funky. This was a great refreshing appetizer to start. 9/10

Wine Soaked Chicken

This was the quintessential cold starter, with tender chicken and snappy skin marinated in sweet wine and fish sauce for an sweet and pungent flavor. 9/10

Xiao Long Bao

These Xiao Long Bao hit the spot every time. The wrapping is perfect to hold the wonderfully umami filling and broth, and the flavors were just on point. 10/10

Pork Belly

The meat was flavorful but slightly dry. The sauce was amazing though, having an amazing caramelized and savory flavor. 7/10

Ginger and Chili Frog

Bold flavors of chili, garlic, onion, and soy sauce coated the frog legs in a thick and viscous sauce. Put this on some rice and the flavors are unbelievably good. 10/10

Sweet and Sour Crispy Eel

Strips of eel are fried and slathered with a sweet and sour sauce. The sauce was a little light on flavor though, and the main feeling I got from this dish was just oil. 5/10

Squash

The best squash ever. Insanely fresh and clean, with a perfectly balanced garlic flavor and glaze. 10/10

Hunan Beef

This was an absolutely mindblowing dish. Insanely tender and juicy beef stir fried to perfection with chilies, garlic, and scallions was so aromatic and flavorful. Pair a bite of beef with a chili pepper and some rice and that is the most flavorful and satisfying bite of the meal. 10/10

Yan Du Xian

Pork ribs, Chinese ham, tofu skin rolls, bamboo shoots, and Chinese asparagus are stewed together to form this beautifully rich and umami broth. It was extraordinarily clean and smooth, but it still had a full-bodied flavor. 10/10

Final review: Great as always with some amazing hits, but some dishes also missed the mark this time. Still, this is probably always going to be a must-have for me in NYC. 8/10
