Rock Shrimp Tempura

The incredibly light and crispy tempura was an amazing batter for the sweet and juicy shrimp, which the slightly spicy wasabi sauce complimented well. Well-balanced and delicious. 10/10

Salmon Crispy Rice

The rice was soft with a perfectly crunchy shell. The salmon and roe were fresh, but unfortunately the dish lacked interesting flavors. 7/10

Uni

The uni was sweet and soft, but it was also a little bitter. However, when paired with soy sauce the bitterness goes away and the sweetness shines through. Not the most fresh uni, but still good. 7/10

Unagi and Amago

The fatty and flavorful unagi was cooked perfectly. The bonito flakes added an interesting texture and the rice paired so well with the flavor and fattiness of the eel. A tried and true classic. 9/10

The amago itself was tender but slightly drier than the unagi. However, it makes up for it with the flakiness. The sauce was pungent and sour, too much so for my taste. 6/10

Top: Bluefin Tuna and Black Garlic Roll, Bottom: Spicy Tuna Roll

The bluefin tuna was slightly torched, which brought out how fatty it is and added another layer of charred flavor. The fibrous vegetables and black garlic on the inside completely overpowered the flavor and texture of the tuna though, so it was rather wasteful of the high quality tuna. 7/10

The spicy tuna had a much better control over the dish, with a slight but noticeable kick being balanced by the rice and avocado. The crispy bits of fried wonton peels were great for the texture. This was an amazing roll. 10/10

Wagyu A5 Robata

The insane amount of marbling in the wagyu lended itself so nicely to the interactive element of being grilled over a hot stone. This way, we were able to control how much of the fat rendered and how much of a crust we wanted. Then the finishing of flaky salt was simple but amazing. This was a fun and extremely delicious way to eat such a special cut of meat. 10/10

Wagyu Beef Fried Rice

All of the components in this bowl were delicious, but when mixed together they rose to a completely new level. The fatty, tender, and flavorful steak, the briny pops of the roe, the rich and umami coating of the egg, and finally the flavorful rice itself all combined for a perfect bowl of fried rice. 10/10

Final Review: Innovative food, relaxing ambiance, and attentive service: this restaurant has it all. This is the ideal restaurant for an exciting meal and a relaxing walk in the rooftop gardens afterward. The only problem is that since it’s outside, occasionally some pesky insects would bother us. We had to get our glasses of water changed because of the insects that were just accumulating in there, but the staff were very quick and helpful about it. Overall a wonderful restaurant and a must-visit in Miami. 9/10
