Miami: Abiaka


Bread Service

These were so flavorful. They were sweet, savory, and buttery from the corn, cheese, and butter. An amazing snack to start the meal. 8/10

Hush Puppies

The hush puppies had a crispy crust and a soft interior, and the flavor of the crab was really potent. The sauces were different and both amazing, with the honey butter being sweet and buttery and the ranchera being savory and intense. They both elevated the hush puppies to an entirely new dimension. 10/10

Fire Water Scallops

The scallops were mushy and not sweet, and the sourness of the sauce tried to cover up how the scallops were low quality. The condiments were also simple, but they went well with the acidic flavor. 6/10

Seafood Paella

This dish was massive and spectacular. The seafood was so fresh and amazingly cooked. The scallops were especially tender, sweet, and well-charred. The rice was also really flavorful with the seafood flavors as well as spices, making it amazingly complex. 10/10

Wood Grilled Bok Choy

The bok choy was fresh and cooked well, bringing out its sweetness while keeping it crispy. The egg shaving on top was definitely interesting and added another textural component. The sweetness of the bok choy also worked well with the savory egg yolk. Very creative dish. 8/10

Prime Rib

This prime rib was grilled to a perfect medium rare, so it was tender, fatty, and juicy. The shishitos were unfortunately not spicy, but the large amounts of mustard and horseradish made up for it. A perfect steak with simple, well-planned sides to balance it out. 9/10

Bone-In Beef Rib

As expected, the beef rib was really tender, but it was incredibly fatty as well. The glaze and jus were a bit too salty, but the sweetness and fattiness balances that out. 9/10

Cedar Roasted Salmon

The salmon was perfectly cooked, but it needed a lot more flavor. The char appeared to be really flavorful but in reality it wasn’t. 6/10

Roasted Sweet Potatoes

The sweet potato was amazing and addictive. It was grilled to perfection with charred skin and fluffy interior. The spicy, tart, sweet, funky, and creamy flavors of the sauces were also bold and complex. 10/10

Abiaka Ratatouille

The vegetables were soft and the flavors were complex with sour, sweet, and savory. The egg was a great addition and worked really well with the complex sauce. 9/10

Piña Colada Tres Leches

The texture of the soft and moist cake, smooth cream, and pineapple were amazing together, and the pina colada flavor was delicious. This was a spectacular and refreshing dessert. 10/10

Elderberry and Strawberry

The strawberry was mildly tart, sweet, and complex. Crispy bits of peanuts and the dense cake were really nice with the ice cream. A mild but very interesting dessert. 10/10


Final Review: This was an amazing restaurant with incredibly flavorful and complex dishes. The atmosphere was great with the location overlooking the pool area. Absolutely wonderful restaurant. 9/10
